#GivingTuesday

Does it seem that at this time of the year we're being bombarded by requests to give? If so, it's because almost half of all giving by Canadians is done in November and December. At M2S, we're no exception. So since most of our donors think of us at the end of the year, we put our reminders out at the same time, like many other charities.
Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday. We invite you to participate in our work. Our three priorities for the next few months are:
To give clothing or parcels, you can simply drop them off at La Maison des marins, Grand Quai de Montreal, 200 rue de la Commune Montreal weekdays from 2-10 PM or on Saturdays and Sundays from 3-10 PM.
Monetary donations can be made online or by cheque.
Finally, at first glance it seems like charities in Canada are in trouble. The 2018 Giving Report published by CanadaHelps says that giving is down across all age groups and that Canadians are giving less. The report says that "the charitable sector is a critical component of Canadian society. Not only do charities, non-profits, social enterprises and other forms of social purpose organizations deliver services to millions of Canadians every day, but this sector is an important part of the Canadian economy. Employing some 2 million people, comprising 8.1% of GDP and involving approximately 13 million volunteers every year, Canada’s charitable sector is present in every community across the country."
So, if you want to swim against the tide, be a change maker and stand for generosity, support a charity today!
Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday. We invite you to participate in our work. Our three priorities for the next few months are:
- Making available gently used winter coats and warm clothes to seafarers;
- Providing each seafarer docking in the Port of Montreal with a Christmas parcel;
- Sustaining our mission by raising funds for a new van.
