The Ministry to Seafarers (M2S)

Chaplaincy and Care Sunday

Chaplaincy & Care Sunday (Nov 17)

On Sunday, November 17, 2019, the Christian Reformed Church will celebrate Chaplaincy and Care Sunday. The CRC announced that "more than 150 chaplains bring the presence of God into institutional settings, such as prisons, hospitals, hospice, long-term care, counseling centers, industrial and workplace and military installations." Of course, that includes port ministry too!

Our chaplains, Michelle and David, along with Fr Andrew from the Apostleship of the Sea, offer chaplaincy services in the Port of Montreal to more than 14,000 seafarers each year from more than 2000 vessels. Montreal welcomes seafarers that work on cruise, merchant and military ships.

A chaplain's visit can be as brief as a few minutes to as long as time permits. Our chaplains provide spiritual care as well as practical and pastoral support. They offer their presence to seafarers who will talk about family, job challenges, health concerns and many other topics. They also offer prayer services on a regular basis.

Watch our video to learn more about Michelle and David's work. We appreciate your prayers on this Chaplaincy and Care Sunday!
