The Ministry to Seafarers (M2S)

Mesothelioma Resource

At Ministry to Seafarers we work to enhance the lives of international seafarers and one of the ways we do this is through advocacy. Recently we came across an informative and helpful resource from The Mesothelioma Center regarding the risks associated with the seafaring profession. We highlight it here in hopes that it will help seafarers be more aware and proactive when it comes to matters of health.

Those who have worked on shipyards, ports and aboard ships are at risk of asbestos exposure and developing mesothelioma, a rare cancer that can take 20-50 years to develop.

The Mesothelioma Center provides resources and extensive information on asbestos. They also work 1-on-1 with USA-based individuals to help them find local doctors, treatment centers and support groups all at no cost.

Former, current and future maritime workers and port officials will want to know of the dangers of asbestos and the steps involved if affected.
